Graduate Students
We are accepting multiple new Ph.D. students this year.
If you are a current or newly admitted Ph.D. student interested in developing AI and machine learning methods and/or using AI to advance biomedical research, please email Prof. Tang directly with your CV and a brief description of your research experience and interests.
If you are a prospective Ph.D. student and would like to join our lab, we strongly encourage you to email Prof. Tang before applying with your CV, transcripts, and a clear description of your research experience and interests. Students with programming and AI background are preferred. For exceptional and highly motivated students, a biological background is not a must.
We are recruiting from several graduate programs at UBC, including the Department of Computer Science, Genome Science + Technology (GSAT), and Bioinformatics Graduate Programs. The application deadline is Dec. 15.
Postdoctoral Fellows and Scientists
We are looking for outstanding postdoctoral researchers. Please email Prof. Tang with your CV, a GitHub account or code repository, a letter describing your research highlights and future career path within 1 page, and contact information for three references. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Undergraduate and Master’s Students
Undergraduate and Master’s students from UBC or other institutions interested in research opportunities are encouraged to contact Prof. Tang with your CV, a brief description of your research experience and interests, and transcripts (or online course transcript). Preference will be given to students who have taken AI/ML courses and can commit at least 15 hours per week to lab work for more than one year.
Visiting Scholars
We welcome visiting scholars who can stay for at least six months to work on high-impact projects. Please email Prof. Tang with your CV, transcripts (for undergraduates), and a brief description of your research experience and interests. For international students, please check the UBC VIRS program.
Remote Work Policy
Working remotely is acceptable after consultation with Prof. Tang and the UBC HR team. Please note that all hiring in the Tang Lab is subject to UBC policies and Canadian government regulations.
